The town of Carrollton has been presented the Mississippi Municipal League’s City Spirit Award in recognition of the Carrollton Pilgrimage and Pioneer Day Festival. The Mississippi Municipal League Excellence Awards program recognizes cities and towns for innovative problem solving, excellence in management, citizen participation and striving to provide a higher level of service. The City Spirit Award is for the individuals or groups that have gone “above and beyond” for their communities. Although the award was presented for the festival, the application listed the Carrollton Pilgrimage Board, the Carroll Society for the Preservation of Antiquities and the volunteers who contributed.
